Thanks to all the parents that assisted with the 2 day camp at Awhitu – your help and Peter Gibson's organization led to a very successful camp – a great experience for everyone - a tiring experience for most (if not all) and a challenge for some - but from feedback received it was also highly enjoyable and a very worthwhile time for all.
It was great to see the more experienced riders helping out the newer riders when the whole Grammar squad rode as one peloton back to the ferry on Sunday afternoon. It's these sorts of experiences that contribute to the great team environment that is at the heart of Grammar's cycling success.
Dates for everyone to note for the near term future include:
Friday May 2nd to Sunday May 4th : 3 day camp - during the last weekend of the school holidays, to be held on the Coromandel Peninsula. Again the involvement of those parents that want to be involved will be welcomed. More details to follow in due course – but boys, please be available if you can for this weekend.
Tuesday 6th May : Week day training commences - for Juniors and Seniors (first week back at school).
Saturday 10th May : Individual Time Trial - at Mangere in the morning – to assist the selectors in determining teams for the initial Waterfront Time Trial.
Sunday 11th May : Captain's Run Through - early in the morning – a dress rehearsal for the first time trial race, followed by a social gathering for all the boys and their families to be held mid-morning, after the time trial and a group ride for the boys.
